Electric fence equipment – energiser
The energiser is the item that powers the fence via a battery or mains. The energiser does this by taking the charge from a battery or mains, converting it to a pulse of electrical current. This then travels down the fence line giving a shock when an animal or person comes in to contact. When installed correctly, the shock given should be just enough to deter the animal or person without causing them any harm.
Battery or mains? There are two main types of energiser available – battery powered and mains powered.
- Battery energisers are extremely portable and offer a range of options from 6v and 9v models, which have disposable batteries, to 12v rechargeable models and solar options. As energiser power levels rise, it is increasingly difficult to draw power from battery alone while maintaining a practical battery life.
- Mains energisers have a greater pool of power to draw from, so climb to higher power levels. Installation of mains energisers is often seen as impractical as many believe a power source is required adjacent to the fence. This does not need to be the case. Using a HT lead, the mains energiser operates much like a battery energiser but with extra long earth and fence leads. HT leads operate just as an insulated, efficient extension of your fence line and can be many metres in length. Mains energisers are also more effective to run.
Through our network of suppliers we are able to offer a variety of electric fencing equipment. Please find below a range of some items that we can supply, for more details please contact us on 01270 619147 or email us at email@example.com
Battery powered electric fence energisers
Low powered energiser good for short distances designed to hang on the fence line, post or earth stake. Operates from two standard D-cell batteries (not included)
Strip grazing energiser with internally housed battery (not included). Highly portable unit offering very good battery life.
Very popular single output, mid power 12v energiser. Good battery life, power balance.
High power 12v energiser suitable for a wide range of applications where mains power is not available.
Mains powered electric fence energisers
Dual output mains energiser
High power mains energiser with dual high/low output and fence efficiency indicator.
Lead out cable
HT lead is used to efficiently transfer power over distance or to continue power across spaces such as gates. The cable is in effect part of the live fence, like the tape, wire or net, but is insulated to 18,000v to allow you to bury or run the wire without shorting. It is required when installing mains energisers.
Insulated waterproof connector for HT lead. Efficient splicing for HT lead for those wishing to take power for longer distances or extend existing lead out.
Mains powered GSM command and communicate electric fence energisers
Command and communicate modules can be installed in the following two energisers. With the addition of a standard SIM card, the uniquely internally installed GSM unit relays alarm information via text to your mobile phone allowing you to respond instantly to alarm conditions and potential problems. The system is also invaluable for on the spot maintenance as the fence can be switched off from any location to allow work to proceed in safety. The system will also relay up-to-date status reports to your mobile when requested.
Fixed joule mains, single output energiser. Fence monitoring facility, battery back-up and command and communicate compatible. This unit can have four user defined alarm settings which alert you to changing conditions on the fence. A bright LED bar on the front of the unit gives an ‘at-a-glance’ indication of fence performance. This unit also has a 12v battery backup facility for further peace of mind in the event of power failure.

Siren and strobe
110 decibel external siren and strobe for Phoenix energisers. Interfaces with the unit and is activated by all alarm conditions.
Multi source powered electric fence energisers
This unit will run from either a 12v battery or from a mains power supply, perfect for those wanting flexibility to move between a temporary, portable fence to a low maintenance mains system.
